Required

  • Minimum 5+ years experience operating Heavy Construction Equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Interact with construction general laborers and/or crew members who are facilitating alignment, movement, and adjustment of the equipment to complete conformation of grade specifications for the construction project.
  • Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
  • Advise the Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
  • Participate in routine maintenance.
  • Properly follow all Company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to maintain detailed maintenance and safety records.
  • Knowledge of truck and equipment safety, including maintenance and storage requirements.
  • Ability to operate equipment related to milling and paving operations.
  • Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques, including signals used.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Previous experience in construction work or an equivalent preferred.

Heavy/Civil Construction Project Manager

Heavy/Civil Construction Company is seeking candidates for available position as a Construction Project Manager to manage multiple $10M+ dollar construction projects in New Jersey. 

Required:

  • 6+ years of experience managing projects in heavy civil and/or highway with full site construction packages (grading, paving, utilities, concrete, subcontractors, etc.)
  • Advanced Skills with (MS office suite-Word, Excel, Outlook, Project). HCSS Heavy Bid/Job.
  • Advanced plan reading skills and ability to understand plans and specifications.
  • Experience in cost tracking, subcontracting, contract negotiation, purchase orders, and billing.   
  • Candidates must be problem solvers, well organized and excellent communicators.

  • Be a forward-thinking individual that stays a step ahead of the work being performed and knows where the project is going next while prioritizing your time and being self-motivated.
  • Work with and maintain positive working relationship with all external customers to include (Sub-contractors, vendors, general contractors, developers, local inspectors, city officials, utility companies, owners’ representatives, etc.)
  • Attend weekly PM meetings and provide deliverables (i.e. Schedules/project updates)
  • Maintain project schedules from start to finish and update weekly or monthly
  • Once projects are awarded, assist in the scheduling and attend all pre construction meetings
  • Coordinate all project aspects with field operations
  • Help interpret plans and specs
  • Deliver and maintain all submittals per project guidelines and maintain throughout the project
  • Manage the budget vs build budget and timelines; work to beat these budgets and timelines
  • Work with the project estimators to ensure any change orders that are needed for the project are priced
  • Maintain correct monthly billings per items completed on projects and ensure they are billed properly
  • Maintain the correct working plans for the project and keep the field crews up to date of changes
  • Make sure that all close out items for the projects have been delivered per specs
  • Other tasks and duties may be assigned as needed

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred

  • – Picking up/Delivering parts/supplies between various Diamond Materials locations/job sites
  • – Shuttling CDL and Non-CDL vehicles between various locations for repairs, services, etc.
