SR1 NE Front Street
This project included:
The SR-1, NE Front Street project consisted of the construction of an overpass over SR-1 that would connect the residents on the east side of SR-1 to the City of Milford. The previous at-grade intersection has seen several accidents over the years; some of them fatal. The residents needed a safer way to commute and an overpass was the answer. To go along with the overpass, Diamond Materials constructed on and off ramps, lighting, drainage systems, concrete curb, a shared use path for pedestrians and bikers, as well as the relocation of several utilities.
This project broke ground on February 19, 2018 and was scheduled to be completed by December 21st 2019. The bridge was not supposed to open until August 2019. Diamond Materials is on schedule to be substantially complete by early June 2019.
In addition to the project being completed 6 months ahead of schedule, according to DelDOT, the project also came in on budget. Diamond Materials worked diligently with Century Engineering and DelDOT to value engineer a large portion of the project to keep costs down without skimping on quality or safety. Diamond Materials worked around the clock in harsh weather conditions when most other contractors would be forced to shut down due to unfavorable conditions. Diamond Materials has proven that building a quality team, in addition to good scheduling and planning can make a tough project successful under any circumstance!
The success of the project is in part to our highly skilled work force, from the Project Manager and Office Personnel to the Superintendents, Foreman, Operators, Laborers and some great Subcontractors. Like the saying goes, “it takes a village”. The successful completion of this project is proof of that statement and that building a quality team is key. Our staff’s years of experience, vast knowledge of heavy highway construction, and a fleet of modern equipment guarantees that we can make any project a success
