US 13 AND PORT PENN ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS

Project Details

The US 13 & Port Penn Road Intersection contract is part of the larger US 301 Mainline project which provides a four lane limited access road.

This project included:

The US 301 project extends north from the MD/DE state line, west of Middletown, to the vicinity of Armstrong Corner Road, where it continues northeast crossing existing US 301 and Boyds Corner Road, before curving east and tying into SR 1, south of the C&D Canal in New Castle County Delaware.  This contract constructed intersection improvements at US 13 and Port Penn Rd to provide a toll free access to SR 1.

This project was expected to take 789 calendar days, however through the use of careful planning and teamwork with the Department of Transportation, Diamond Materials was able to be complete the project nearly six months ahead of schedule, and well under the department’s budget.

"Diamond Materials was truly a collaborative team partner for the US 13 and Port Penn Road Project, working with us to produce a cost effective, efficient and quality construction product. The knowledgeable Diamond staff were a value added to the overall success of this project. On time, on budget and great quality - a definite win for the owner."
