Diamond Materials is undertaking the DDI Clearing project in Delta, Pennsylvania, valued at $1,108,962.75. The purpose of this project is to perform clearing and grubbing operations across multiple parcels to prepare the land for PECO’s installation of new powerlines. The project does not have a fixed original schedule, as progress has been influenced by weather conditions, permitting requirements, and conservation-restricted areas. Despite these delays, once conditions improved, Diamond Materials exceeded anticipated production rates and advanced the project efficiently.
The scope includes clearing approximately 69.8 acres of land, encompassing full vegetation removal and site preparation to facilitate future utility installation. No cut-to-fill operations, imported material, utility installation, paving, concrete work, sidewalks, curbing, or stormwater management facilities are included as part of this project.
A key challenge involved navigating steep slope conditions throughout portions of the site, which posed safety and operational risks during clearing activities. Diamond Materials addressed this by utilizing specialized equipment, including a D8 dozer equipped with a winch system to stabilize machinery operating on inclines. This approach ensured safe and controlled operations while maintaining productivity across difficult terrain. The project continues to progress with strong production performance following earlier delays, demonstrating Diamond’s ability to adapt and execute efficiently under changing conditions.
