Diamond Materials is currently performing the site-work and utility installation for the First Park development, located at 116 Christiana Road in New Castle, Delaware. This $22.1 million project spans over 60 acres and will support the construction of two new warehouses.
The scope includes clearing 1 acre of land, performing over 242,000 cubic yards of cut-to-fill earthwork, and installing more than 19,000 linear feet of storm drainage and 3,200 linear feet of sanitary sewer piping. Additional work includes the installation of 25,500 linear feet of concrete curb, 50,500 square feet of sidewalk, 7,900 cubic yards of concrete, and over 26,000 tons of asphalt.
A key challenge on this site is the presence of unsuitable soils throughout the project area. Diamond is addressing this by remediating the onsite material with soil cement to ensure proper ground stabilization. The site also includes two stormwater management facilities totaling nearly 48,000 square feet and a 25-foot deep pump station. The project is expected to be completed on schedule within 1.5 years.
